Rob Ray and Brad May, were two gritty forwards who played important roles on the Sabres in the 1990s. Ray, a tough enforcer, played 889 games with the Sabres over 14 seasons, scoring 84 goals and recording 2040 penalty minutes, the most in franchise history. He was a fan favorite for his willingness to stand up for his teammates and his fearless approach to the game. May, meanwhile, was known for his hard work and versatility, and he played in 509 games with the Sabres, scoring 91 goals and recording 1,348 penalty minutes. He was a key contributor to the Sabres' run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999, scoring two series-clinching overtime goals in the playoffs. Together, Ray and May were a fearsome duo, and their toughness and tenacity on the ice endeared them to Sabres fans for years to come.
